The 80th Annual Academy Awards show is the Super Bowl of Hollywood. Except instead of throwing touchdown passes, they compete for Oscar.

 

At this years show, the competition for Best Achievement in Makeup was as stiff as a dry martini.  The contenders in the category are the talented makeup teams behind  Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Norbit and La Vie En Rose.

 

In the end, the makeup artist team for La Vie En Rose, Jan Archibald and Didier Lavergne took this years top  honors.

 

The makeup masters transformed actress Marion Cotil

lard from age 18 to 47 in the film.  La Vie en Rose is a French-language biopic on the legendary singer Edith Piaf. 

 

A clearly shocked Archibald expressed in her speech, “I'm overwhelmed. It's just amazing. I have a lot of people to thank. My assistants... worked very hard and I owe a lot to them. .. It's so exciting to be here.... Thank you.

 

This is the first Oscar win for the dynamic duo.

The show makeup artists wait all year for is rapidly approaching.

The 2008 International Makeup Artist Trade Show is gearing up to be the best show yet.

effects walk the halls of the show.

Revlon Reduces the Red

The big wigs from Revlon can take a deep sigh of relief.  Well,  sort of. 

Reports show that the US cosmetics company is successfully  climbing out of the red.  Their net loss has reduced from a staggering $251.3m  2006 to $16.1m  in 2007 .

 

This is great news for the brand.  The increase of sales can be credited to a lot of hard work and strategic planning. 

The flashy ad campaigns, new product launches lead the charge. 

The past faces for the brand include A-listers include,Halle Berry, Eva Mendez, Julianne More  and Jessica Alba.

 

The rock chick reveals, “If I wasn’t a tattoo artist, I would be a makeup artist.  I love makeup!”. 

The new line will debut in Sephora stores this Spring.  “We are excited to partner with Kat on this exclusive line of products.  Kat embodies everything Sephora stands for.

Call it a match made in heaven.  Beauty giant Sephora has partnered with Kat Von D to create a custom line of palettes, lipstick and liners. 

Kat has risen to celebrity status since her breakout reality show “Miami Ink and she is now starring in the reality hit LA Ink.
